We will start first with the MikroTik SSTP setup portion of the guide by creating the certificates for SiteX. Two certificates are required for our SSTP VPN setup – a “Server” and “CA” (Certificate Authority) certificate, all of which, will be created via the MikroTik. To configure the server, it is necessary to install the 'SSTP VPN server' component. You can do this on the 'General system settings' page in the 'Updates and component options' section by clicking on 'Component options'. Then go to the 'Applications' page. Here you will see the 'SSTP VPN server' panel. Apr 13, 2020 · The Microsoft Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) is the VPN technology based on the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) over Secured Socket Layer (SSL). As this protocol is based on the same mechanism as the Secured Web (HTTPS) protocol, it will pass virtually through every firewall or proxy server. May 16, 2019 · I've changed the native protocol to 'Automatic' (Also tested 'SSTP') and have enabled SSTP WAN Miniports in RRAS on the VPN server for RAS/Routing. However, upon trying to connect, SSTP consistently fails. The connection appears to find the VPN server, then reads the certificate store and then looks to drop out when trying to verify sign-in info. Apr 04, 2018 · OpenVPN seems to be the best option. If you have to use another protocol on Windows, SSTP is the ideal one to choose. If only L2TP/IPsec or PPTP are available, use L2TP/IPsec. Avoid PPTP if possible — unless you absolutely have to connect to a VPN server that only allows that ancient protocol. Image Credit: Giorgio Montersino on Flickr Important. It is important to: Install two Ethernet network adapters in the physical server. If you are installing the VPN server on a VM, you must create two External virtual switches, one for each physical network adapter; and then create two virtual network adapters for the VM, with each network adapter connected to one virtual switch.

I have Windows 2012 Server with RRAS set up on it to allow clients to connect via SSTP VPN. I have correctly set up the certificate on the server and issued it to clients. Whilst my clients that are Windows 7 can connect successfully to the SSTP VPN I am having trouble with Windows 10 clients. So I believe my issue is to to with the Windows 10

On Mikrotik devices that runs RouterOS version 6.x, you can set the SSTP VPN connection in a minute. There is no SSTP server software for Linux currently available. There is an SSTP client available for Linux and SSTP server implementations available for Windows (as Microsoft developed the protocol) and RouterOS. There is an open specification, so there isn't a reason why someone couldn't develop the server. It just hasn't been done.
