I was able to obtain a used PS3 and I'm trying to get into my old PS3 to get the game saves off of it and save it into an external hard drive My problem is that my PS3 only turns on for a second. To fix the issue, i would have to get a new motherboard (which is about $100). The laptop may also be able to connect with a camera using the HDMI and it is the PS3 that I based the answer on.
